Sarah Palin and the Hideousity of the Media
I am disgusted with the way Sarah Palin has been treated by feminists.
The same people who say that women can have it all; a high-powered career, well-behaved children, a handsome husband, and a beautiful home filled with beautiful things, now say that a woman is incapable of having all those things!
No, the highly talented Governor of Alaska should be at home taking care of her babies. The media tries to denigrate her by pointing out that she is (gasp!) an involved mother who takes part in her childrens' lives (i.e. hockey mom), and that she is an attractive woman (i.e. former beauty queen.) The dinosaur media point to this and say "see! these are her only qualifications!" They are practicing the most hideous form of sexism.
From what I understand, she DOES take care of her family in a traditional way while also managing to run Alaska. She fired the gubernatorial chef so she could cook for her own family.
As Vice President, there's no reason why she shouldn't continue to do so!
Then there are the (ludicrous) attacks which maintain that it is her lack of experience which should disqualify her from the office. Palin has more executive experience than McCain, Biden, and yes, Obama combined. I'm amazed that the least qualified of all presidential candidates ought to attack the opposing party's v.p. choice on the grounds of experience.
Sarah Palin managed one of the largest state economies in the country, not to mention the one with the largest territory. She's done all this with an 80% approval rating.
Obama's biggest achievement was getting elected to the Senate, and with such goobers as Byrd, Pelosi, Kennedy, and Schumer, it proves not to be as difficult a task as all that. He spent a whole of 143 days in the Senate before announcing his run.
Yes, this is DEFINITELY a man I want lecturing us about experience.
Then there is the matter of her daughter, Bristol. For God'ssake, leave her alone! The girl made a mistake. We all make mistakes. I know that I have! I am just flummoxed when the dinosaur media brings up the "hypocrisy" of a pro-life, pro-traditional values candidate who has a pregnant daughter.
If anything, Mr. and Mrs. Palin's support of Bristol in this very difficult time shows us how consistent they are in their views, and how strong their family is.
Some people would kick their daughter out the door if she didn't have an abortion--I've known such parents and their daughters. One young woman who did what her parents asked of her and regrets it to this day. She wished that she had had the will to stand up to death in favor of life.
I am sorry that Bristol was in such a difficult position, but I am very proud of her for choosing life, and I am proud of Levi, her fiance, for doing the right thing by her.
If Sarah Palin's example is any guide, I suspect that Bristol and Levi will have a happy and respectable home, and their child will always know that he or she was wanted and is loved.
